"In dreams the sea or a body of water will be representative of your emotional state."    -unknown

Epoxy resin bears a strong resemblance to water and depth with the addition of transparent pigments and layering effects. I attempt to control and manipulate this “water” these subconscious emotions by heating, burning, molding, and tinting the medium. Embracing chaos and abandoning my natural perfectionist inclinations. I found that trying to conceal abnormalities only enhanced their beauty. I pour contrasting elements next to each other to amplify their characteristics, subconsciously forming yin and yang through the dichotomies of high-gloss with matte, metallic with opaque, stark white with deep hues.

There’s a science to epoxy resin. I’m constantly learning new ways to transform the liquid into something more than a puddle of color. I get more of a 3D textural effect by heating the resin so the curing time is sped up. Flames both help to smooth the surface and if applied in a concentrated area will cause blistering and a charred edge. Pouring intuitively I create compositions of harnessed chaos.
